About The Ride

If you’re new to Bike Party, please read to the end. If you’re looking for a current link to something, such as the route, the best place to check is: linktr.ee/bikeparty. The route will be added as a link there as soon as it’s ready.

What:  We’re Baltimore Bike Party!  We are a mass monthly ride for participants of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.  We stay together, in a slow pace (usually ~10mph), following a different route every month, pre-selected by our volunteers and posted ahead of time.  Find the latest event here!

Who:  Bike Party is a ride for all cyclists, from beginners to advanced!  It is organized by a core group of volunteers.  We are always looking for more help, if you interested in getting involved, take a look at the current oppurtunities here: linktr.ee/bikeparty

If you have questions about volunteering please contact our amazing coordinator at: volunteer @baltimorebikeparty dot com!

When:  The last Friday of every month.  We meet at 6:30pm and wheels hit the pavement at 7:00. Ok, sometimes we don’t actually leave until 7:15pm. We usually ride until 8:45 or 9:00pm.

Where:  We meet at St Mary’s Park in Seton Hill (600 N Paca St).  This starting point does not change, but our end point varies from month to month.

Why:  Because it’s awesome to ride your bike!  It’s even MORE awesome to ride your bike with friends.  Don’t have friends who ride?  Come make some!  We are all about building the cycling community!

How:  We have a few simple rules that the ride follows.  We have a group of dedicated volunteers who help lead and guide the ride along it’s way.  We stay together and all have a good time!

Additional Frequently Asked Questions:
1
. Do we stop at red lights?
Yes! Yes! Yes! We ride under WEST COAST RULES, stopping at red lights.

2. Do we return to the starting point at the end of the ride?
No. We party. People leave the party whenever they’d like, or when the DJ or venue announce that it’s time to go. There is no planned ride back, and people are riding home in a variety of directions. We do recommend people look/ask around and ride in small groups.

3. Where should I park?
If you’re not able to bike to the starting point, you probably will be able to find street parking within a few blocks of St. Mary’s Park. Some people park somewhere halfway between the start and end point. Some people park at the end point so their car will be waiting for them when they arrive. If you do this, please do not park at the end venue, but find someplace nearby as to not take up the venue’s parking while we are biking.

4. Can I bring my kid(s)?
As you know, biking is inherently a dangerous activity and involves risk, but the ride is open to the public and anyone can come or go at anytime. The ride is geared toward adults, and some adults find the ride challenging to complete. However some riders do bring children. One option would be to come without children to check it out, and then make that call

5. What should I bring?
1) Spare Tube, Tire Levers, Small Wrench (if you don't have quick release wheels) and Travel Pump.  even if you don't know how to change a tire, this will greatly help the person helping you!
2) Lights, Bike Bling!
3) Noise Makers, Horns, Bells, Whistles!
4) Costume! (monthly theme)
5) Route Map (or at least an idea of where the route will be heading)
6) Hydrating Drink
7) Bike Lock for the after party
8) Extra Cash for the after party and your ID if you are drinking
9) Spare Tube (we cannot stress this enough)
10) A positive non-confrontational attitude!

6. I don’t have a bike; can I rent one?
We don’t have bikes to rent, but some local bikes shops do. To start, try Joe’s Bike Shop or one of the Baltimore Bicycle Works locations.

7. Can I do the ride on a _____?
…
Fixie …Cruiser …Roller skates …Unicycle …on foot? All of these things and more have happened, but there’s really no way we can answer that for you.

8. How should I lock up?
Carefully. With a lock.

9. Is the route posted in advance?
Yes! The route link is available, usually a day or two before the ride, and can be found here: linktr.ee/bikeparty If you don’t see it there, it’s simply not ready yet.

10. What is your rain policy?
Biking is already dangerous, rain conditions on can compound the danger exponentially, especially when sharing the streets with cars. Please always error on the side of your personal safety. Some of us do ride in the rain, but we do not recommend it! A more detailed overview of our decision making process can be found here: rain plan.

11. Is Bike Party tonight?
Yes! Well, if it’s the last Friday of the month  If not, no.

Hope to see you at the next one!
